Smile! Relax! Act Normal!

I don’t know about you, but I get very, VERY intimidated when a camera gets pointed at me and I need to “SMILE!”.
Some people are naturals and feel at ease in front of the camera; if you’re not one of these people, don’t worry, I can relate!
To make things as easy and painless as possible, I’ll guide you through the shoot as much as I can.
I’ll see what poses work and what your most flattering angle is so you can look your best.

I’ll also make sure to show you what you look like on camera. Many people relax after seeing how good they actually look, and this is when the shoot starts flowing nicely and the magic happens.

What to wear?

You want to make sure you’re comfortable, because if you’re uncomfortable in what you’re wearing, it’s going to show in the photos.

Try and stick to solid, neutral and subdued colours so your clothes don’t draw the attention away. (The same applies to jewelry – keep it to a minimum).

For the guys: dark shoes and socks, bright colours will stick out.
For the ladies: natural make up is always a winner.

It’s best to wear your hair as you normally would, or a style that you know works. Trying something drastically new right before the shoot could end up in a disaster.

When is the best time?

In photography, it’s all about the light. The “Golden Hour” refers to the time just after sunrise or just before sunset where the light is soft and beautiful and creates amazing images. I always check out  TimeandDate.com for sunrise and sunset times and try to shoot around those times.

Being a Cape Town engagement photographer, I can suggest different locations for you depending on the look and feel you’d like to go for. Some popular options are forests, city and beach. If you have something specific in mind, I’d be happy to help in making it possible!
